Nestled high in the Eastern Himalayas, Bhutan has long enchanted travelers as a kingdom where time seems to slow. This June, the mystical nation is stepping onto the global stage with the first Bhutan International Travel Mart (BITM) 2026, held from June 11–13 in Thimphu’s serene Zhichenkhar district.

For three days, international buyers, tour operators, and industry leaders will gather to explore Bhutan’s unique approach to tourism. A dedicated digital hub, www.BITM.bt, allows participants to connect before, during, and after the mart, ensuring that relationships forged here extend far beyond the Himalayas.

“BITM is more than an exhibition; it’s Bhutan’s declaration of leadership in mindful, regenerative tourism,” says Damcho Rinzin, Director of the Department of Tourism Bhutan. At the heart of the event is Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), a visionary project designed as a sanctuary for wellness, mindfulness, and high-value travel experiences. Alongside Bhutan’s signature landscapes, festivals, and culinary delights — from fiery Ema Datshi to traditional butter tea — GMC represents the next chapter of the Kingdom’s journey. Jointly organized with the Department of Tourism, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment, and the Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO), BITM emphasizes Bhutan’s “High Value, Low Volume” tourism philosophy, prioritizing authenticity, sustainability, and community benefit over mass visitation.

During curated B2B meetings, participants will discover emerging destinations, explore adventure and ecotourism offerings, and witness firsthand how Bhutan blends cultural heritage with transformative travel experiences. “BITM brings our vision to international partners directly,” notes Kinley Gyeltshen, Chairman of ABTO. “It’s an opportunity to create partnerships that support our communities and showcase Bhutan’s extraordinary offerings to the world.”

Accessible via Paro International Airport or overland from India, Bhutan invites travelers to experience its pristine rivers, Himalayan vistas, vibrant festivals, and starlit skies. BITM 2026 is more than a trade event — it’s an invitation to step into Bhutan’s mindful, high-value future.
